Hardy Murdoch 12' Cane Spinning Rod
Hardy built cane rods are often regarded as the finest rods of the period, particularly as the range of rods was extensive with many being made individually to suit the more affluent customers (and they needed to be). This is a classic three piece 12 foot built cane salmon spinning rod with all of the trademark Hardy fittings, lockfast ferrules, W reel seat, angled bridge rings, agate butt and tip rings, brass fittings with good patina etc.
The rod has Palakona printed onto the cane with the patent number. On the butt cap is stamped A 13244 (about 1906) The Murdoch and Hardy Bros. Makers Alnwick.
The cork handle is in excellent condition as are most of the intermediate whippings (one is coming loose) although the varnish is crazed. The rod comes with the original bag which is need of some TLC with minor tears and a repair to the bottom section.
