Hardy Murdoch 11' Cane Spinning Rod with spare tip
Hardy built cane rods are often regarded as the finest rods of the period, particularly as the range of rods was extensive with many being made individually to suit the more affluent customers (and they needed to be). This is a classic three piece 11 foot built cane salmon spinning rod with a spare tip having all of the trademark Hardy fittings, lockfast ferrules, W reel seat, angled bridge rings, agate butt and tip rings, brass fittings with good patina etc.
The rod name "The Murdoch Rod" and Palakona 246936 patent number are printed onto the cane . On the butt cap is stamped E19397 (1930) and Hardy Bros. Makers Alnwick.
The cork handle is in excellent condition as are most of the intermediate whippings although the varnish is crazed. The rod comes with the original bag which is in very good condition, it even has the original ferrule stoppers. What more could you want
