Allcock Aerialite 3.75" Bakelite Reel

This Aerialite reel (the cheap entry to centre pin reels) was a successor to the wooden Nottingham reel from Allcock, one of the first plastic reels which is water resistant and never warps. This was ideal with braid lines, but with the advent of monofilament, the spools used to get crushed by the pressure of line stretch. This is an early model of 3.75" diameter fitted with an optional check on the reverse and a line guide.
