Hardy "The Pope" 10' Cane Fly Rod

This is a classic rod from Hardy, probably the premier maker in the world at the time. This is "The Pope" a 10' two piece cane rod. The cane and tyings are original throughout and the handle has been cleaned and a new button screwed in. The Butt cap is stamped Hardy's Pat Rings 2307, and "The Pope" and the serial No. A1121 dating this rod 1904. The reels seat is stamped Hardy's W reg 16.8.73 The rings are angled bridge rings with an agate butt ring and a replacement tip ring. The unusual feature is the closeness of the intermediate whippings all the way from butt to tip making the rod more powerful than the regular one but a slower action.
