Published I would think circa 1880's. Covers of the 5 Volume set have a beautiful Gold embossed head of Victoria surrounded by other embossed gold accroutments of Royalty. This was published at the height of an Empire ruled by One Flag, One Navy and Army and above all one Queen : the age of jingoism when the words send in a gun boat ( the drones of the day) would strike fear in to any rebellious heart. Would make a nice library decoration to offset a room or antique bookcase. Of some value to the Historical researcher as well. 5 Volume set for £60.
