A Sporting Weekend - 24/05/14

To round off a busy month, Sandy and I nipped to the Millennium Stadium on Saturday to watch the rugby final, and Johnny Wilkinson's last game in the UK. We were sat in amongst the French crowd and they were a very noisy, lively bunch creat...ing a great atmosphere. Toulon thoroughly deserved their win. It was a great day out, spoilt by the rail journey which was chaotic. How can the capital city of Wales have such poor transport system letting down a fantastic stadium. We were stood I the rain for nearly a hour and a half before being allowed into the station to get on our train. If reflected very badly on Cardiff and the rail system.

Then, we took our eldest lad, Ross to his first kickboxing and wrestling tournament on Sunday. He was told to enter the advanced level as he has broad experience but I thought it madness, he lost his kickboxing bout to a black belt kickboxing instructor who was taller than him. He then entered a wrestling match losing out to a brown belt in the end but nearly winning that through brute strength rather than technique and experience. It goes without saying we were very proud of him, especially as he damaged his thumb in the kickboxing and could only really use one hand wrestling. I guess he's too big to clip around the ear now!
